Overview
Sleep disorders such as insomnia disrupt the quality, timing, or amount of sleep, and often interact closely with mood, anxiety, and daily functioning.
Common Signs & Symptoms
- Difficulty falling or staying asleep
- Waking up too early and being unable to get back to sleep
- Non-restorative sleep despite adequate time in bed
- Daytime fatigue, irritability, or difficulty concentrating
- Racing thoughts or worry at bedtime
- Sleep problems persisting three or more nights a week for a month or longer
When to Seek Help
Chronic poor sleep both worsens, and is worsened by, mental health conditions — treating it directly often improves both.
